Forest-Inspired Perfumery Supermarket Wins Prestigious Design Award

Dmitry Pozarenko's "Sense of Forest" Design Earns Silver in A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award

Immersing visitors in a winter forest landscape, Dmitry Pozarenko's innovative design for a perfumery supermarket has been recognized with a Silver A' Design Award. This unique retail space, inspired by the intersecting branches and trunk columns of larch trees, offers a soothing and engaging shopping experience.

The design, named "Sense of Forest", was conceived by lead architect Dmitry Pozarenko and associate architect Elena Lotoshnikova. The suspended ceiling, a key feature of the design, consists of two gratings covered with natural ash veneer. These gratings are offset by six degrees and hang at different heights, mimicking the arch of larch tree crowns in winter.

Adding to the forest-like atmosphere, round columns in a wooden lath pierce the ceiling, reminiscent of tree trunks. The cash desk area, made of natural granite, extends into the depth of the space with two broken lines, further enhancing the natural aesthetic. The use of onyx and granite countertops, along with five-meter slabs of African wood, infuses the space with the richness of natural textures.

Constructed using hot-rolled steel, tinted stainless steel, granite, onyx, ash, and African wood, the "Sense of Forest" covers a total area of 1238 sq.m. The industrial equipment, made of hot-rolled steel of different sections, is softened by the abundance of natural wood textures, creating an environment that is more reminiscent of natural landscapes than industrial settings.

The store, located in the business center of Moscow, attracts and engages more than 2000 people daily. It serves as a hub for presentations of new products in the field of perfumery and cosmetics, as well as master classes by renowned makeup artists. The design was completed in 2018, with the aim of creating a calming environment that offers a pleasant shopping experience amidst the urban intensity of Moscow.

The "Sense of Forest" design has been recognized with a Silver A' Design Award, a prestigious accolade awarded to top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs that demonstrate outstanding expertise and innovation. These designs are admired for their strong technical characteristics and splendid artistic skill, and are known to evoke positive feelings, amazement, and wonder.

In conclusion, Dmitry Pozarenko's "Sense of Forest" design is a testament to the power of nature-inspired architecture in creating engaging and soothing retail spaces. Its recognition with a Silver A' Design Award underscores the potential of innovative design to transform everyday experiences, such as shopping, into immersive and enjoyable encounters with the natural world.
