Award-Winning Design Blends Traditional Dining with Memorable Experiences

Originally conceived as a steakhouse, Arthur's Restaurant evolved into a tribute to the owner's father. The menu and design were altered to create a memorable dining experience that goes beyond the traditional. The restaurant now offers a unique blend of the familiar and the extraordinary, making each visit a special occasion.

The design features three separate dining areas, each offering a unique dining experience. The main dining room, located in the westerly octagon, is complemented by an intimate bar in the second octagon. Together, these two areas can seat about 154 people. A third dining area, a rooftop patio, is set to open in the spring. The design also includes upgrades to the existing space, such as replacing the windows and using wall paneling to create a seamless transition from the interior to the exterior.

The unique properties of Arthur's Restaurant are realized through the use of various materials. Brass with patina, applied by hand, is used alongside "Tabu Walnut" wood veneer and "Puricelli Morematt" laminate. The use of "Caesarstone" stone adds a touch of elegance to the design.

The design team, which included Kilbarry Hill Construction Limited, Unique Store Fixtures, gh3, Aquila Group, and e-Lumen international, worked together to bring this vision to life. The result is a space that offers multiple operations and interactions, open to interpretation by each client.

The project began in Spring 2018 and was completed in January 2019. The design was informed by research collected from previous restaurants, each with its own unique style. The final design is a contemporary North American grill, cocktail lounge, and rooftop terrace located in Midtown Toronto. The ceiling design, featuring faceted wood panels with a wood veneer, enhances the octagonal shape of the room and mimics the look of cut crystal hanging above.

The design was awarded Silver in A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2020. This prestigious award recognizes top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs that demonstrate outstanding expertise and innovation. Arthur's Restaurant is a testament to the power of design to create unique and memorable experiences.
