Bit Design Hotel: A Customized Contemporary Approach

Marcelo Aguiar Pardo Architects Office Creates a Unique Hotel Experience

The Bit Design Hotel, designed by Marcelo Aguiar Pardo, is a highly custom designed hotel that offers a personalized contemporary approach for young-minded individuals who seek a unique and comfortable stay. Inspired by minimalism and Japanese aesthetics, this hotel stands out from standard chained-brand hotels, providing a one-of-a-kind experience.

The Bit Design Hotel is characterized by its unique features and strengths. The lobby concept design showcases a folded wood tape that runs from the walls to the ceiling, mimicking the building facade and creating a visually striking element. Each room on every floor is customized with a particular color defined by the foot warmer cover and a wall-covering mural, giving each room its own character and atmosphere.

The interiors of the Bit Design Hotel exude a cozy and warm ambiance, with wood as the main material. Glazed illuminated counters at both ends of the lobby, including the reception front desk and cafeteria counter, create a symmetrical composition. The focus of the design approach is on the concept's strength rather than decorative elements, resulting in a space that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing.

Spanning over a 342 sqm plot, the Bit Design Hotel features a ground floor with a reception lobby, Bit café, conference room, gym, and solarium on the first and third floors. The hotel also includes a basement level and ten additional floors, totaling a built area of 2,240 sqf. With 49 rooms, including king rooms, twin rooms, and master suites, guests can enjoy deck-terraces with breathtaking views of the city and the Rio de la Plata River.

The Bit Design Hotel's design team, led by Marcelo Aguiar Pardo Architects Office, successfully overcame creative, technical, and research challenges to create a fully integrated building design expression. The wooden millwork in the rooms, resembling folded "tapes," adds simplicity and elegance to the space. The corridors further enhance the concept of diversity with an asymmetrical composition in finishing and lighting.

The Bit Design Hotel is located at 265 Ramon Fernandez Street in Montevideo, Uruguay. The design process took six months, while the construction process lasted one year. The main inspiration behind the design was differentiation, aiming to create a hotel that stands out from the crowd and offers a unique experience for its guests.

Marcelo Aguiar Pardo holds the copyrights for the Bit Design Hotel, which was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in 2016. This prestigious award recognizes outstanding and creatively ingenious designs that incorporate best practices in art, science, design, and technology. The Bit Design Hotel contributes to quality of life improvements, making it a truly remarkable establishment.
