Spiritual Bay: A Masterpiece of Oceanfront Living

Kris Lin's Villa Design Marries Minimalism with Nature

In Qingdao's West Coast, Kris Lin unveils Spiritual Bay, a residential villa that redefines luxury living with its prime ocean views and minimalist design, earning the prestigious Bronze A' Design Award.

The concept of "framed view" lies at the heart of Spiritual Bay, where the breathtaking seascapes are captured as living paintings through expansive windows. This design philosophy not only maximizes the enjoyment of natural light but also elevates the ocean view to an art form within the residence. The minimalist approach adopted by Kris Lin serves to declutter the living space, directing focus to the serene ocean vistas and fostering a harmonious connection with the natural surroundings.

Distinctive in its location, Spiritual Bay is a testament to rarity and luxury. As China halts the development of first-line sea view residential land, this villa emerges as a coveted gem in Qingdao's ninth largest new district. The villa's design spans five levels, including three above ground and two below, featuring an open-plan living area, study, spacious ocean-view bedrooms, a home theater, and a tea room, each thoughtfully positioned to capture the essence of coastal living.

Embracing sustainability, the villa's design incorporates advanced lighting strategies. Large floor-to-ceiling windows and an open layout are the results of meticulous regional illumination studies, which not only enhance the natural light within but also reduce the need for artificial lighting, aligning with environmental consciousness.

The villa's facade is a statement of modernity, with minimalist doors and windows that feature narrow-framed, seamless aluminum frames coupled with large-sized ultra-clear glass. This choice of materials and design not only minimizes visual obstruction but also frames the seascape in a way that transforms the view into a dynamic natural painting.

Living in Spiritual Bay is akin to residing within a piece of art. The "framed view" design approach allows residents to experience the natural seascapes intimately. The large glass windows double as canvases, and their operability merges the indoor with the outdoor, offering a seamless transition that accentuates the villa's unique interaction with its environment.

From its inception in Shanghai to its completion in Qingdao, the project spanned several months, culminating in June 2023. The design research focused on leveraging the geographic advantage to integrate natural seascapes with the interior, employing minimalist framing to accentuate the views and promoting sustainable living through the use of natural light. Overcoming the challenge of bringing prime ocean views indoors, Kris Lin's design strategically utilizes open spaces and carefully positioned furniture to optimize the visual and living experience.

As a beacon of modern coastal living, Spiritual Bay by Kris Lin stands out not only for its stunning design but also for its commitment to sustainability and luxury. The villa's recognition with the Bronze A' Design Award in 2024 underscores its excellence in interior space, retail, and exhibition design, marking it as a paragon of art, science, design, and technology integration that enhances quality of life and contributes to a better world.
