Tree in a Bottle: A Pioneering Step in Eco-Friendly Packaging

Designers Niu Rui and Wang Yubo Craft Sustainable Lubricant Packaging

Inspired by the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species, "Tree in a Bottle" features embossed Toucans, symbolizing the fragile existence of species affected by climate change. This design not only serves as a visual appeal but also as a poignant reminder of the importance of ecological balance and the preservation of biodiversity. Niu Rui and Wang Yubo have transformed packaging into a medium for environmental advocacy, encouraging consumers to reflect on the impact of their choices on the planet's well-being.

What sets "Tree in a Bottle" apart is its commitment to sustainability, employing fully decomposable materials for the packaging. This innovative approach ensures that each product barrel can return to the earth, decomposing naturally without leaving any harmful residues. The design's strength lies in its ability to seamlessly blend with nature, thereby reducing the environmental footprint of packaging waste.

The realization of this eco-conscious design is made possible through the use of PMU inorganic biodegradable material technology. The packaging, including the plant-based bottle and cap, naturally breaks down into fertilizer, negating the need for chemical treatments. Additionally, the seed paper label embedded with plant seeds offers a unique post-use life. Once the product is consumed, the label can be planted, leading to the germination and growth of new life, thus completing a full sustainable cycle.

Technical specifications of "Tree in a Bottle" include a bottle body measuring 310.2 ±2mm in height and 152 ±1.5mm in width, with the use of embossing technology to enhance texture and uniqueness. The design team, led by Creative Director Niu Rui, with contributions from Fang Rui Sen and Wang Yu Bo, has meticulously crafted a product that is not only functional but also a statement piece advocating for environmental responsibility.

The interaction with "Tree in a Bottle" extends beyond its primary function as a lubricant container. It invites users to partake in an eco-friendly activity by planting the seeds from the label, fostering a connection with nature and promoting a greener lifestyle. This innovative design was conceived and completed within two months in Beijing, overcoming the challenge of aligning product content with eco-friendly packaging to ensure a truly sustainable offering.
