The bag itself is designed to securely attach to the handle-bar using hook and velcro bands, ensuring that the weight is evenly distributed and balanced. The technical specifications of Urbano include multiple width options for the handle-bar, allowing users to choose the one that best suits their shoulder width. The design is realized using a combination of carefully selected materials and production techniques, ensuring durability and functionality.

Extensive research forms the foundation of Urbano. Mert Ali Bukulmez conducted a thorough literature review, an online survey, semi-structured interviews with individuals living in both London and Istanbul, and extensive observation studies. This research enabled the designer to identify the challenges faced by urban commuters and develop a design brief to address these issues.

Despite the creative and technical challenges encountered during the design process, Urbano successfully overcame them. One of the notable challenges was conducting observations in London, which required extensive travel throughout the city to identify the problems faced by urban commuters. However, this process provided valuable insights and contributed to the design's effectiveness.

Urbano was developed as a project at Nottingham Trent University, starting in January 2018. The research process lasted for three months, followed by two months of actual design implementation. The project concluded in May 2018, resulting in the creation of this innovative handle-bar and carrying bag.

Recognized for its exceptional design, Urbano was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in the Fashion and Travel Accessories Design category in 2020. This prestigious award acknowledges the practicality, innovation, and professional quality of the design, contributing to a better world.
