Flower Power: A Unique Fabric Pattern Design

A Seamless Pattern Inspired by Love and Peace

Zeinab Iranzadeh Ichme, the talented designer behind Flower Power, explains that the design process began with hand sketching different types of flowers. These sketches were then meticulously composed and colorized using color pencils and markers. The final composition was scanned and digitally modified to enhance the colors, add background elements, and create a seamless pattern that repeats flawlessly.

What sets Flower Power apart is its juxtaposition of dark and bright colors. The darkest parts of the design represent the negative subjects in the world, while the overall composition features vibrant and vivid colors that symbolize the positivity that will ultimately prevail. This contrast creates a visually striking piece that captures attention and conveys a powerful message.

In addition to its unique aesthetic, Flower Power aligns with the floral theme trend of the Spring/Summer 2020 fashion season. The design is intended for use in the fashion industry, particularly in fabric patterns. The colors used in Flower Power are inspired by and adjusted to match the fashion trend colors of SS2020.

Flower Power is brought to life using a combination of traditional and digital techniques. After the initial hand sketching and coloring process, the design is transferred to Adobe Photoshop for further refinement and modification. The final design is then printed on Poplin Organic Cotton, a lightweight fabric suitable for the SS2020 season. This choice of material not only aligns with fashion trends but also promotes sustainability, as organic cotton is biodegradable and does not contribute to pollution.

Zeinab Iranzadeh Ichme worked on the Flower Power project from December 2019 to January 2020 in Naples. The design process involved extensive research into the floral tendencies of the 1960s and 1970s, as well as an exploration of the current fashion trends for SS2020. By combining these influences, Ichme created a design that pays homage to the past while remaining relevant and fashionable in the present.

Creating Flower Power was not without its challenges. Ichme faced the task of expressing her emotions and feelings through her design, which required introspection and careful consideration. The result is a piece that successfully conveys her vision and evokes a sense of peace, love, and positivity.
