Opus One: A Futuristic Ark by Kris Lin

Unveiling the Award-Winning Sales Office Design

Opus One, a sales office design by Kris Lin, is a remarkable blend of nature and technology. Drawing inspiration from the Qiantang River's serene landscape, Lin has created a futuristic "Ark" that embodies tranquility and modernity. This article delves into the unique aspects of this design, its realization, and the accolades it has received.

The Opus One project is situated near the Qiantang River, boasting a unique ecological environment and an excellent geographical location. It is part of the world-class Binjiang Science and Technology City, a hub that has attracted many leading IT enterprises. The design of Opus One integrates the "water" element from the natural environment, combining it with modern technology concepts to construct a futuristic "Ark" in the interior space.

Realizing this design involved the strategic placement of wired glass screens in an array. The semi-transparent texture lends the space a sense of lightness and transparency. The spherical concept is strikingly presented through the glass screen. In the elevator hall, the geometric lines on the wall are staggered and overlapping. The combination of vertical lines and tension injects more dynamism into the space, emphasizing the concept of technology.

The design spans an area of 1300㎡ and features elements of modern technology, indoor landscape, and nature. The audio-visual room, shaped like a spaceship, creates a surreal and creative concept space. Natural elements are brought into the interior space, creating an "indoor landscape". The design elements of the natural landscape are used to integrate the outdoor garden landscape into the interior space, highlighting the design concept of returning to nature.

The Opus One project started in October 2018 in Hangzhou, China, and was completed in May 2019. The project is located in the Olympic Sports section of the Binjiang District, a key area for planning and development in Hangzhou. The location's unique ecological environment and excellent geographical location have made it a key science and technology development area at the national level.

Creating this futuristic "Ark" presented several challenges. The audio-visual room needed to present the shape of a spaceship, creating a surreal and creative concept space. The geometric lines in the elevator hall had to be staggered and overlapping, with the combination of vertical lines and tension injecting more dynamism into the space. Despite these challenges, the design was successful and has been recognized with the prestigious Golden A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2020.

In conclusion, Opus One by Kris Lin is a testament to the harmonious blend of nature and technology. Its unique design, inspired by the Qiantang River, and its successful realization despite challenges, have earned it well-deserved recognition and accolades in the design world.
