Oriedental: A Unique Combination of Asian and Czech Culture

This silk scarf, part of the works of the Studio of Textile Design, is a testament to Usami's creativity and ability to merge different influences into a cohesive design. Measuring 70 x 70 cm, the scarf features a digital print that showcases the designer's unique perspective.

Usami drew inspiration for the Oriedental scarf from her surroundings. Originally from Japan, she found herself studying textile design in Prague, where she was the only Asian student in her studio at the time. This experience led her to create a design that reflects her identity and the fusion of two distinct cultures.

The Oriedental scarf stands out from others with its combination of oriental and occidental elements. The digital print captures the essence of Asian and Czech culture, resulting in a visually striking and culturally rich design.

Exhibited as part of the Studio of Textile Design's showcase at the Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven, the Netherlands in October 2019, the Oriedental scarf has garnered attention for its unique concept and execution. It was also featured in the exhibition "Mission, vision, revision" in Prague from January to February 2020.

Recognized for its outstanding creativity and ingenuity, the Oriedental scarf was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Textile, Fabric, Textures, Patterns, and Cloth Design category in 2020. This prestigious award celebrates designs that showcase technical and creative skills while contributing to improvements in quality of life.
