Internalized Art: A Residential Design by Ke Chung Li

Embracing Nature and Art for a Tranquil Lifestyle

The combination of nature and art comes to life in the stunning residential design by Ke Chung Li. Inspired by the owner's love for collecting artworks and their desire for a serene living environment, this design seamlessly blends elegance, creativity, and the beauty of the natural surroundings.

The uniqueness of this design lies in its ability to integrate art into everyday life. Ke Chung Li, the renowned designer behind this project, believes that daily lives are a manifestation of creativity, and the quality of life embodies the arts. With this philosophy in mind, the design showcases elements such as corridors and an entrance hall, transforming the house into a work of art itself.

Situated by the sea, the design takes full advantage of the breathtaking view outside. Rather than relying on excessive decorations, the focus is on the simplicity and tranquility of the interior design. The result is a space that exudes a sense of calm and comfort, allowing residents to immerse themselves in the beauty of their surroundings.

One of the challenges faced during the design process was the issue of humidity due to the proximity to the sea. To address this, the main wall of the house was constructed using healthy tiles that absorb formaldehyde and humidity, ensuring a comfortable and healthy living environment. Additionally, the bronze cabinet was meticulously painted with plant dyes, giving it a unique black color with a warm touch that is exclusive to the East. This cabinet, once concealed, now stands as a piece of classic art on display.

The layout of the house is inspired by cruise routes, creating a circular flow that allows light to permeate every corner. The corridors add an element of movement and exploration, reminiscent of wandering through a traditional oriental garden. Safety and comfort were also prioritized, with careful attention given to the scale of movements, daylighting, and the concept of a house suitable for all ages.

Completed in December 2019 in Kaohsiung City, Taiwan, this residential design by Ke Chung Li is a testament to the harmonious integration of nature and art. Its timeless elegance and thoughtful design have earned it the Bronze A' Design Award in 2021, recognizing its outstanding creativity and contribution to improving the quality of life.
