Mini Opera House: A Delicate and Majestic Residential Interior Design

Uniquely Detail-Oriented Design for a Small House

The Mini Opera House is a residential interior design project by Szu Wen Wang that showcases a delicate and majestic style within the constraints of a small space. Inspired by the grandeur of opera houses, this design brilliantly expands the indoor space in both vertical and horizontal scales, creating a unique and captivating living experience.

This residential apartment, spanning 265 m2, presents a meticulous approach to interior design. Unlike larger houses with spacious hallways and intermediate spaces, the Mini Opera House focuses on intricate details to maximize the limited indoor space. The challenge of creating a distinct design style for this 3-person family was met with innovative solutions and hidden design ideas.

The entrance sets the tone for the entire design, with carved wood doors and mirrors introducing an atmosphere of elegance. The walls throughout the apartment are aligned with a central column, creating a harmonious flow. Stylish lines are added to the walls with the inclusion of classical storage cabinets adorned with white American-style double doors.

The kitchen area features a delicate white wood kitchen island that doubles as a dining table. Gray hexagon tiles add visual intensity, while wood storage cabinets maintain the design style. The bathroom, cleverly hidden behind the dining table, seamlessly blends with the overall aesthetic through consistent colors and moldings.

The living room design is a standout feature of the Mini Opera House. A geometric recessed wall serves as the backdrop for the TV wall, symmetrically adorned with built-in display shelves. The symmetrical walls behind the sofa accentuate the majestic momentum of the space. Circular suspended lamps and a copper mirror further enhance the grandeur.

The master bedroom exudes a delicate quality, with wallpapers, wall lamps, and a wood headboard adding to its charm. The consistent color scheme creates a graceful ambiance. The room is furnished with a wardrobe and dressing table, providing both functionality and style. In the children's room, a bunk bed efficiently utilizes the limited space, with an adjoining wardrobe and bookcase. World map wallpapers signify the spirit of adventure exclusive to children.

Completed in March 2019 in Taiwan, the Mini Opera House is a testament to the designer's attention to detail and creative problem-solving. By rearranging the layouts and incorporating hidden design ideas, Szu Wen Wang has transformed a small space into a masterpiece of residential interior design.

The Mini Opera House was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2020 for its well-designed, practical, and innovative approach. This prestigious award recognizes the integration of industry best practices and competent technical characteristics, contributing to a better world.
