Black and White: A Stunning Interior Design by Kevin Chu

An Artistic Expression of Chinese Ink Paintings

For his art training in ink wash painting, Kevin Chu applies the primary tone of black and white in his latest interior design project. This unique approach expresses the aesthetics of Chinese ink paintings and creates a captivating atmosphere.

Inspired by the concept of Chinese ink paintings, Kevin Chu has created a truly remarkable interior design. The use of black and white as the primary color palette reflects the simplicity and elegance found in traditional ink wash paintings. By selecting fixtures and furniture that adhere to this color scheme, Chu has successfully captured the essence of this art form.

One of the standout features of this design is the adornment of bookcases and swastika-style racks. These elements not only add a touch of artistic flair but also serve to conceal unsightly plumbing. The incorporation of intangible elements such as sunlight and air further enhances the overall ambiance, creating an elegant and serene atmosphere.

The realization of this design involved the collaboration of various materials and techniques. Cement boards were used to mask the gas meter at the entranceway, while artwork on the storage cabinet created an appealing indoor scene. The combination of different decorative furniture, including a leather-coated armchair, an old-fashioned Korean cabinet, and a stainless tea table, showcases the beauty of artistic confrontations.

This stunning interior design spans a space of 132 square meters. It was completed in 2017 in Taichung City, Taiwan, under the guidance of Kevin Chu. The design team worked diligently to overcome various challenges, such as the rectangular shape of the space. The addition of a glass sliding door, adorned with wooden grills, effectively separates the reception and conference room areas while showcasing ornamental skills. The large ceiling window and Italian-style tiles in the adjoining conference room and balcony further enhance the visual appeal.

Kevin Chu's Black and White interior design has received well-deserved recognition. It was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2018 in the category of Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design. This prestigious award is given to designs that meet professional and industrial requirements, showcasing innovation, practicality, and adherence to industry best practices. Chu's design not only fulfills these criteria but also contributes to a better world by creating a space that evokes positive feelings and a sense of fulfillment.

Kevin Chu's Black and White interior design is a testament to his artistic vision and ability to seamlessly blend traditional Chinese aesthetics with modern design principles. Through careful selection of materials, colors, and furniture, Chu has created a space that is both visually stunning and functional. This design serves as a reminder of the timeless beauty and elegance found in Chinese ink paintings.
