Ludan: A Unique Coffee Roast Design

An Innovative Coffee Shop Concept by Chen Wei-Nan

The inspiration for Ludan's design comes from the desire to create a space that allows customers to fully immerse themselves in the coffee experience. The slanting design of the front door not only enhances the visual appeal of the shop but also prevents unwanted reflections, ensuring privacy for indoor customers. This design element also allows pedestrians passing by to catch a glimpse of the captivating visual identity wall.

With a floorplan designed to promote openness and freedom of movement, Ludan caters to couples or small groups of customers. The triangular bar, strategically placed in the center of the space, creates a toroidal circulation pattern. This layout enables customers to freely explore the shop while the roaster works their magic in the roasting area.

What sets Ludan apart is its meticulous attention to detail and craftsmanship. The 16 m2 space is cleverly cut into a multi-sided bevel, guiding people's vision along interlacing axes. The castoring triangle bar aligns with the axes of the front door, creating a harmonious visual flow. The gradient arrangement of the shelves behind the bar adds depth and visual interest. The metal table, composed of two folded triangles, showcases the designer's commitment to unique and functional design. The numbers on the wall, made from punched-plate steel, add a touch of industrial elegance.

The realization of Ludan's design relies on the use of materials such as metal, punched-plate steel, and wood. These materials not only contribute to the aesthetic appeal but also ensure durability and longevity.
