Airy Light

Residential Design by Ling Hsiang Chen

According to the clients' expectations of an ideal home, the Airy Light design by Ling Hsiang Chen embraces a simple, warm, and modern atmosphere. By incorporating pure white tones, wooden elements, and natural window scenery, this design creates a modern living space that is both inviting and relaxing. The open dining area takes center stage, highlighting the advantages of the house and allowing for comfortable circulation. With an abundance of natural light during the day, the Airy Light design provides a serene and natural atmosphere for its users.

Breaking away from the conventional concept of making the living room the focal point of the house, the Airy Light design sets the open dining area as the main space. The use of PANDOMO flooring, double-track sliding doors, and glass partitions seamlessly connect different areas, while delicate designs can be found throughout the reading area. The open kitchen and transparent study room enhance the interactive nature of the space. The living room is thoughtfully planned as a leisure area, with a projection screen replacing the traditional TV screen, creating a relaxing atmosphere.

The Airy Light design incorporates a variety of materials, including wooden veneer, wooden flooring, PANDOMO, imported ceramic tiles, chrysotile, glass, and gray mirror. These materials contribute to the overall aesthetic and functionality of the design.

With an interior space area of approximately 148.76 square meters, the Airy Light design features an entrance area, living room, dining room, kitchen, study room, and two bedrooms and bathrooms. The layout has been carefully designed to meet the needs of the clients and maximize the functionality of the space.

The Airy Light design was created by Ling Hsiang Chen and his team. By considering the clients' needs and the existing conditions of the house, the design team reconfigured the layout to create a more functional and comfortable living space. The original four rooms were transformed into two bedrooms, a study room, and a dressing room, with an expanded master bedroom bathroom. The careful design and thoughtful layout allow users to relax and enjoy their living and working spaces.

The Airy Light design was completed in June 2018 in Taipei, Taiwan. The design team conducted extensive research to ensure that the style and functionality of the project aligned with modern design principles. Through the use of simple color matching, smooth circulation, ample storage space, and natural materials, the team created a perfect space that meets the clients' needs.

One of the main challenges faced during the design process was the presence of numerous beams in the 30-year-old house. These beams created pressure on the space and limited the ceiling height. However, the design team found innovative solutions to utilize the space under the beams as aisles and incorporated smooth circulation planning and spacious views to mitigate the discomfort caused by the low ceiling height.

The Airy Light design, with its modern aesthetic and functional layout, provides a harmonious and relaxing living environment. It has been recognized for its excellence and was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2021. This award acknowledges the design's practicality, innovation, and adherence to professional and industrial requirements, making it a valuable addition to the world of interior design.
