Feng Sa's Peach Blossom Future Villa: A Harmonious Blend of Tradition and Innovation

Winner of the Silver A' Design Award, this villa design redefines residential architecture.

Designed by Feng Sa, the Peach Blossom Future Villa is a stunning residential project that seamlessly integrates traditional Chinese architectural elements with modern design principles. The project, which recently won the prestigious Silver A' Design Award, is a testament to the designer's innovative approach and commitment to preserving the natural environment.

The Peach Blossom Future Villa is located in Anji, Zhejiang, China. The project, which began in 2015 and was completed in 2020, features 56 single-family homes nestled in a scenic mountain area. The design was inspired by traditional Chinese stilt houses, with each villa supported by three steel columns to minimize disruption to the existing topography.

The villas are characterized by their lightness and simplicity. The use of steel, glass, and board finish concrete as primary materials allows the structures to blend seamlessly with the surrounding landscape, creating an impression of floating glass boxes amidst the alpine environment. This design choice not only enhances the aesthetic appeal of the villas but also respects and preserves the natural environment.

One of the unique features of the Peach Blossom Future Villa is its large glass enclosure. This design element emphasizes the horizontal extension of the villas and enhances the sense of spaciousness. It also provides residents with stunning views of the surrounding landscape, further strengthening the connection between the built environment and nature.

Despite the project's innovative design, it was not without its challenges. The steep terrain, with a maximum elevation difference of 41 meters, posed significant technical difficulties. However, through careful planning and execution, Feng Sa and his team were able to overcome these challenges and successfully realize their vision.

The Peach Blossom Future Villa is more than just a residential project. It is a celebration of the harmonious coexistence of man and nature, a testament to the power of innovative design, and a beacon of what is possible when tradition and modernity are brought together in perfect harmony.
