Shenzhen Meland Club: A Four Seasons Fairy Tale

Xiang Li's Award-Winning Indoor Playground Design

Located in the heart of Southeast China, a region where the four seasons are not distinctly experienced, the Shenzhen Meland Club is a breath of fresh air. Xiang Li, the creative mind behind this project, sought to create a space where children could experience the beauty of the four seasons in a fairy tale setting. The design incorporates elements of nature, such as flower balls, plant stems, butterflies, bees, and ladybirds, reimagined in a deconstructive design that stimulates the imagination.

The Meland Club is not just a playground, but a work of art. Nestled within the Shenzhen Uniwalk Shopping Mall, the club breaks away from traditional large-scale structures. Instead, Xiang Li has reimagined the space, creating a garden-like park that seamlessly combines aesthetics with functionality. The result is an indoor playground that is as beautiful as it is fun.

The design of the Meland Club is a masterclass in space utilization. Xiang Li has built a three-layer platform in the double-height space, effectively using the vertical space and enhancing the sense of exploration. The atriums, built with stairs around them, guide visitors through the space, leading them to their destinations. Every detail, from the plant-like cabinets and shelves to the flower-shaped seats and the bulbous lighting fixtures, serves a practical purpose while adding to the overall aesthetic.

The Meland Club is a testament to Xiang Li's innovative approach to design. Despite the challenges of designing a space that spans 6000 square meters, Xiang Li has managed to create a layout that is easy to navigate and visually stunning. The design cleverly integrates functionality into aesthetic design, ensuring that the space is not only beautiful but also practical.
