The Triobags backpack, designed by Radoslav Bozhinov, is a game-changer for those who lead a busy lifestyle. Inspired by the inconvenience of carrying multiple bags for work, gym, and food, Bozhinov and his team developed this innovative concept to provide a solution that combines functionality and style.
The Triobags backpack consists of two separable bags called the Work Backpack and the Active Backpack. The Work Backpack features a 15" laptop compartment, an electronic tablet sleeve, and spare spaces for chargers and other work essentials. On the other hand, the Active Backpack has a detachable insulated Food Bag that keeps food and drinks fresh for up to 8 hours. It is designed to carry gym accessories and trainers. The bag can also be used as a travel bag by removing the insulated food bag to accommodate more space.
What sets the Triobags apart from other backpacks is its versatility and attention to detail. The separable backpacks are connected through a strong and reversible zipper, which is waterproof and hidden in the bottom of the pack when fully zipped. This allows for easy access to the insulated food bag without the need to open the entire backpack. The bag also features a separation to integrate the isolated food bag within the backpack, which can be easily disintegrated by removing the internal partition using connective material to accommodate more space. Additionally, the separable backpacks can be opened to 90 degrees, making it convenient to pack and access items.
When it comes to the construction of the Triobags backpack, the design team employed a design thinking methodology, focusing on creating a high-quality waterproof backpack. The backpack is made from 600 x 900D rPET recycled waterproof material, ensuring durability and sustainability. The shoulder straps are made with Airmesh foam, which follows the curves of the human body for optimal comfort. The backpack also features highly reflective piping material to enhance visibility during nighttime activities such as cycling. The insulated food bag is made with InsulShine insulated material, keeping food and drinks fresh for extended periods.
The Triobags backpack measures 300 x 220 x 450 mm, providing ample space for all your essentials. It is designed to meet the needs of individuals who value convenience, organization, and style in their daily lives.
The development of the Triobags backpack was not without its challenges. Finding a qualified manufacturer capable of transforming the concept design into a production sample proved to be a hurdle. Additionally, connecting two separable backpacks into one was a new concept that required innovative thinking. The design team also faced difficulties in sourcing a reusable waterproof material, as not every manufacturer works with this type of material. Despite these challenges, the team persevered and successfully created a functional and stylish backpack that meets the needs of modern-day individuals.
The Triobags backpack project started in June 2014 in Hertfordshire, England. Since then, the team has developed the idea and created four different samples. They are currently finalizing the backpack for manufacturing and are in negotiations with a manufacturer for the minimum production quantity and cost before launching a crowdfunding campaign.
The Triobags urban multi-functional backpack has already received recognition for its innovative design. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Fashion and Travel Accessories category in 2021. This prestigious award is bestowed upon outstanding designs that exhibit strong technical and creative skills, contributing to improvements in quality of life.
The Triobags backpack is a testament to the power of design thinking and innovation. With its multifunctional features, high-quality materials, and attention to detail, it is set to revolutionize the way we carry our essentials for work, gym, and leisure.
