Bocui Pearl: A Unique Architectural Marvel by Shanghai PTArchitects

Underground Sales Office Design Transforms Urban Landscape

Shanghai PTArchitects' award-winning project, Bocui Pearl, redefines urban architecture with its unique underground design, blending modern aesthetics with environmental sustainability.

The Bocui Pearl project, located in Guangzhou, China, is an innovative architectural feat by Shanghai PTArchitects. The design inspiration stems from the geographical features of the land, divided into two parts by a 12-meter-wide city road. The project is situated under this road, connecting the entire land area, and providing a unique vertical vibrant landscape for the city road. The architects have ingeniously utilized the underground space to create a peaceful atmosphere, away from the city's noise and hustle.

The design of the Sales Office unfolds like a play, with the entrance, reception hall, sunken courtyard, sales room, model room, and reception room presented in a continuous spatial order. The space is highlighted with three mushroom structures, acting as major joint spots, and representing a well-known Chinese saying, 'in this world all things thrive'. This unique design feature sets the Bocui Pearl apart from conventional architectural designs.

The Sales Office is realized through a combination of innovative design and technology. The mushroom-shaped structures create a sense of organic growth, connecting the ground and underground traffic. The building, courtyard, and spring complement one another, creating a harmonious blend of architecture and nature. From an aerial view, only the spring is visible, with the entire building and courtyard hidden under the greenery, adding an element of surprise and intrigue to the design.

The Bocui Pearl is not just an architectural marvel, but also a testament to sustainable design. The building uses recyclable aluminum plates as the main material, and incorporates a rainwater collection system and a solar system, reflecting Shanghai PTArchitects' commitment to environmental protection and energy conservation. The project, which started in November 2018 and was completed in December 2019, is a shining example of sustainable architecture in the modern urban landscape.

The Bocui Pearl has been recognized for its innovative and sustainable design, winning the Golden A' Architecture, Building and Structure Design Award in 2021. This prestigious award is granted to outstanding creations that reflect the designer's prodigy and wisdom, and significantly impact the world with their desirable characteristics. The Bocui Pearl, with its unique design and commitment to sustainability, truly embodies these qualities.

In conclusion, the Bocui Pearl by Shanghai PTArchitects is a unique architectural design that seamlessly blends modern aesthetics with environmental sustainability. It serves as a model for future urban architectural projects, demonstrating how innovative design can transform urban landscapes while preserving the environment.
