Milagros: A Unique Alkaline Water Bottle Design

A Combination of Art, Technology, and Precision

Milagros, widely recognized as a premium alkaline water brand in Indonesia, has always been at the forefront of innovation. In their latest breakthrough, they have taken a sustainable design approach to their packaging. While most water bottles have a round shape, Milagros wanted to create a bottle that is not only visually appealing but also easy to hold and reflects the pH color spectrum of alkaline water.

What makes the Milagros water bottle truly unique is its combination of art, technology, and precision. The bottle features a beautiful purple color that is identical to the pH of alkaline water. This vibrant hue is complemented by intricate batik variations on the label and on the left and right sides of the bottle, adding a touch of Indonesian culture and craftsmanship.

The shape of the bottle is carefully designed to curve inward, making it easier to hold and providing a comfortable grip. The brand name, Milagros, is embossed on the back of the bottle, adding a subtle yet elegant touch. The bottle is made from PET mixed with color pigment to achieve the desired blue-purple shade. It is then reshaped into its unique curved form and embossed with the Milagros logo on the back, as well as batik patterns on the sides.

The label, printed on purple plastic material, has pointed sides at the top and bottom, further enhancing the bottle's aesthetic appeal. The cap, also in a matching purple color, is made from polypropylene plastic and features an embossed Milagros logo on the top.

Despite its unique design, the Milagros water bottle maintains its functionality and practicality. With a height of 239 mm and a diameter of 63 mm, it is the perfect size for everyday use. The bottle's sturdy construction ensures that it can withstand regular use and handling.

The development of the Milagros water bottle presented its fair share of challenges. One of the main obstacles was maintaining the bottle's sturdiness while incorporating the curved shape. To address this, small indentation lines were added to act as supporting poles, providing stability without compromising the design. Additionally, the label-shaped area on the bottle presented difficulties in placing the sharp-tipped label symmetrically. To overcome this, a sensor was added to the bottom of the bottle, allowing the label machine to accurately position the label.

The Milagros water bottle project was completed in July 2020 in Tangerang, Indonesia. The design team, led by Yuslifar Huda, conducted extensive research to ensure that the packaging design aligned with the brand's image and met the growing market demands for attractive and functional packaging.

The Milagros water bottle design has garnered recognition and acclaim. It was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in the Packaging Design category in 2021. This prestigious award is given to well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements. The Milagros water bottle stands out for its integration of industry best practices, competent technical characteristics, and its contribution to a better world.
