Jinlin Mansion: A Fusion of Tradition and Modernity

Matrix Design's Award-Winning Project Marries Eastern Wisdom with Contemporary Aesthetics

Matrix Design's Jinlin Mansion, a sales office project in Jiaxing, China, is a testament to the harmonious blend of traditional Oriental wisdom and contemporary design. This project, which covers a total of 1965 square meters, was awarded Silver in A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2021.

The Jinlin Mansion project started in August 2019 and was completed in April 2020. The design team, led by Wang Guan, Liu Jianhui, and Wang Zhaobao, took inspiration from traditional Oriental aesthetics and applied it to a modern context. The result is a design that respects tradition yet fully meets the aesthetic and functional needs of contemporary people. The design's unique properties lie in its reflection of architecture, experience, design, and sense of ritual.

Matrix Design's approach to this project was to create a space that obeys the inner needs and the comfort of the soul. With rational lines combined with modern trajectories and matched with low-saturated light colors, every space of the clubhouse is wrapped in low-key luxury. The rough wall surface has a unique historical texture, and the space spread through the progress direction of dots, lines, and planes.

The design of the sand table display area emphasizes the natural texture of mountains and ancient arts. It is like a metaphor of peach blossoms and a modern mirror image, by which way the entire space penetrating in a minimalist mood and has a very modern taste. The large-scale mansion morphological art installation that hangs down from the ceiling in this area has become the visual focus of the entire space, and the hollow skylights also arbitrarily sway the lighting above, presenting a dream like traversing.

The spiral staircase is an artistic bridge that connects the past and the future. It also shows the inclusiveness of space, trying to explore the relationship between a more diverse space and human life forms. The children's area and the book bar area jump out of the classical mood of space and return to the real present. They are functional, practical and beautiful. Expressed in a purely modern design, it fits the usage and habits of modern people, and balances the feeling of space with real texture.

Entering from the reception lobby, contemporary method is used in the design to combine landscape, nature and light and shadow in one space. Classic symbols, modern craftsmanship, clean and concise art are mixed together with the life scene of the literati and elegant scholars. The elegance and spirit of the East slowly spread in every corner. Stepping further into the space, the layout is partitioned along with the functions and progresses layer by layer, forming a smooth, natural and rhythmic spatial movement line.

The Jinlin Mansion project is an exploration of Oriental aesthetics in the current context. It is a testament to Matrix Design's ability to marry tradition with modernity, creating a space that is not only aesthetically pleasing but also functional and comfortable. The project's success is a testament to the team's creativity, technical expertise, and dedication to excellence.
