Modern Scenery: A Harmonious Blend of Zen and Modernity

Ming-Yuan Yeh's Award-Winning Design Creates a Unique Spatial Tension

In the realm of interior design, the balance between form and function is crucial. Ming-Yuan Yeh's "Modern Scenery" is a testament to this delicate equilibrium, where cool-toned colors and unique use of shades create a noble and stable atmosphere. This design, awarded Silver in A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2021, is a vivid modern scenery formed through the change of depth and the natural texture of stone.

The inspiration behind "Modern Scenery" is rooted in the rich and elegant cool-toned colors. The dark-toned space, the main theme of the design, is layered through the depth change and the natural texture of stone, creating a unique spatial tension. This ingenious mix and match of different textures further stimulate the harmony of Zen, resulting in a noble and stable atmosphere.

Realizing this design involved the use of slate that continues from the entrance, setting the tone for the bright and spacious lobby. The smooth gray-white marble floor and the dark wood above constitute the space's frame, allowing the sight to extend. Large glass windows on both sides provide plenty of natural sunlight, creating a sense of visual lightness. The open hall uses furniture to define areas with different functions.

One of the unique features of "Modern Scenery" is the chandelier with irregular curves in the lobby center, floating like clouds. The color-jumping sofa becomes a visual highlight, and the bright yellow brings vitality in a dark color. The gym, separated by glass walls with fixator, creates a sense of intimacy while maintaining the space's penetrability.

Despite the challenges of maintaining privacy in meeting rooms, the design adopts a low-key and exquisite style. The three-dimensional wall design is matched with black tables and chairs, and the large-area windows maintain the interior brightness. Each area has its own structure without interfering with each other, but echoing each other.

"Modern Scenery" is a 460 square meter project completed in March 2021 in Changhua, Taiwan. Ming-Yuan Yeh's design is a testament to the power of creativity and innovation in interior design, proving that a balance between form and function can result in a space that is not only visually stunning but also functional and comfortable.
