Water is the yearning of the human soul, and human beings have always been drawn to live along water. The Dongguan Oct Waterfront Sample Room, designed by Percept Design, embraces this deep-rooted connection between humans and water. This residential project aims to create a unique and abstract dwelling space that combines dynamic and static elements, injecting endless philosophies into the space.

The project takes inspiration from the natural beauty of the waterfront and seeks to create a modern and cultural living environment. By integrating the elements of mountains and water, the architecture seamlessly blends with nature, creating a harmonious mountain and water scene within the interior space. This concept of incorporating natural elements has been a part of Chinese home decoration for centuries, and the Dongguan Oct Waterfront Sample Room continues this tradition.

One of the standout features of this design is the integration of water elements into the indoor space. Through various architectural design approaches, the project brings the outdoor lake view indoors, creating a modern, smart, and serene atmosphere. The use of imitation ecological gradient wall coverings, wave board leather carvings, and landscape glass adds depth and texture to the space, while the gray glass and 3D leather panels enhance the contemporary aesthetic.

The Dongguan Oct Waterfront Sample Room is not only visually stunning but also functional. The core space is designed to be open, evoking a sense of stretching and connecting with nature. The flexible space division allows for independent areas while maintaining a sense of unity, creating a space that truly feels like a home. The boundary settings provide privacy for different family members while also fostering a sense of togetherness, making it an ideal living environment for multi-generational families.

Located in Liaobu, Dongguan city, Guangdong Province, China, the project was completed in October 2020. Extensive research was conducted to ensure that the design captured the essence of the local natural ecological lake view concept. The cool color tones used throughout the space create a calm and peaceful atmosphere, providing a sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of daily life.

The Dongguan Oct Waterfront Sample Room has successfully overcome the challenge of harmoniously combining different traditional and natural elements in the interior space. By doing so, it creates a friendly and inviting atmosphere, bridging the gap between people and their surroundings. The project aims to evoke a poetic sense of space, where beauty is incomparably beautiful. It envisions a future home along the water, where one can find their own scenery at high places and a poetic dwelling when looking back.
