Temple Nightclub: A Futuristic Oasis in San Francisco

Designing a Nightclub Inspired by Spaceships and Sci-Fi Movies

The concept for Temple Nightclub was born out of extensive research and inspiration from magazines, the internet, and futuristic movies. Gholami, the interior designer behind this project, wanted to create a space that transported visitors to a different world, a world of the future.

One of the main challenges faced during the design process was the long and narrow shape of the building, as well as the abundance of columns within the space. However, Gholami turned these obstacles into design features. Each column was transformed into a unique element by applying LED lights underneath, creating a mesmerizing visual effect. The entire space, from floor to ceiling, was custom-made to represent different parts of a spaceship. The furniture symbolizes the engine, the DJ booth serves as the control center, and the ceiling represents a starry sky.

LED lights play a crucial role in bringing the concept of Temple Nightclub to life. The ceiling alone boasts approximately 1500 to 2000 dome LED lights, controlled by numerous panels. The furniture is equipped with LED strip lights, which can be controlled individually. The DJ booth features four digital screens that can display videos, pictures, or solid light. The bar, made of plywood, is also adorned with LED strip lights.

The dimensions of Temple Nightclub are as follows: width 20 meters, depth 40 meters, and height 6 meters. The design project began in April 2014 and was completed in December 2014, with the grand opening taking place in January 2015.

One of the standout features of Temple Nightclub is its interactive lighting system. The lights are programmed to synchronize with the music, creating a captivating and immersive experience for club-goers. A dedicated control room allows the light engineer to oversee and adjust the lighting throughout events.

Temple Nightclub's design has garnered recognition and acclaim. In 2017, it was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category. This prestigious accolade is bestowed upon designs that exhibit outstanding creativity, resourcefulness, and technical skill, contributing to improvements in quality of life.
