Belgard's inspiration for Artforms Artex came from a desire to support homeowners in urban areas where space is limited. The goal was to provide a product that allows for verticality in yards, enabling homeowners to maximize their outdoor space. The design team looked at various options in the landscaping industry, such as poured-in-place concrete structures and aluminum planters, to create a unique and functional solution.

What sets Artforms Artex apart is its modular nature and ease of installation. The pre-formed concrete panels can be cut, configured, and affixed with simple, adjustable stainless steel hardware. This allows for endless personal configurations, making the system customizable to any project. Additionally, the 3-inch modularity of the panels ensures versatility and flexibility in design.

The system is suitable for rooftop applications and can easily be added to existing projects. The interior of the panels is hollow, allowing for easy installation of lighting, and the 6-inch cap includes a dovetail where wires can be run.

The realization of Artforms Artex involved an extensive design process. The team at Belgard participated in brainstorming sessions, sketched different applications, and created CAD concepts. Prototyping, lab testing, and focus groups were conducted to ensure the design's feasibility and effectiveness. Field tests with contractors were also carried out using test molds.

Technical specifications of Artforms Artex include concrete panels measuring 457.2 x 914 x 76.2 mm and 152.4 x 914 x 76.2 mm, anchor slides with a 6.35 mm x 20 stud and nut, joining plates measuring 209.55 x 63.5 x 38.1 mm, inner corners measuring 228.6 x 152.4 x 63.5 mm, outer corners measuring 101.6 x 101.6 x 63.5 mm, and stretcher bars measuring 933.45 x 31.75 x 25.4 mm.

After two years of development, Artforms Artex was launched in Canada in April 2020 and is now expanding to the United States in 2021. The design has already received recognition, winning the Bronze A' Design Award in the Garden and Outdoor Furniture Design category. This prestigious award acknowledges Artforms Artex for its creativity, resourcefulness, and contribution to improving the quality of life through innovative design.
