Wuzhen Jintang: A Club Inspired by Chinese Brocade

A Fusion of Classical and Modern Culture

In the world of design, uniqueness and originality are highly valued. Wuzhen Jintang, a club designed by Kai Tang, perfectly embodies these qualities. This project takes inspiration from the concept of "Jin" or brocade, showcasing the beauty of Chinese classical culture in a modern space.

What sets Wuzhen Jintang apart is its meticulous attention to detail and the fusion of classical and modern elements. The designer has closely followed the theme with rich colors, woven shapes, and exquisite materials, creating an embroidery-like hotel space. The interweaving of red and green symbolizes the prosperity of the market and the natural beauty, representing the epitome of Chinese classical culture.

The realization of this design required the use of various materials such as stone, wood veneer, metal, cloth, leather, glass, aluminum plate, rock plate, and shell mosaic. These materials were carefully selected to bring the vision to life and create a harmonious blend of textures and colors.

One of the challenges faced during the design process was the transformation of the Chinese-style old building. The designer successfully broke the original structure, making the space more open and increasing the interaction between indoor and outdoor areas. This innovative approach allowed the building to seamlessly integrate with its surroundings.

The Wuzhen Jintang project covers a total area of 8631.8 square meters and was completed between May 2020 and January 2021 in Jiaxing. Throughout the design process, extensive research was conducted to ensure the creation of a unique and captivating space.

Wuzhen Jintang has been recognized for its excellence and was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2021. This prestigious award acknowledges the practicality, innovation, and adherence to professional and industrial requirements demonstrated by the design.

The designers behind Wuzhen Jintang, including Kai Tang, Jianping Bu, Ping Liu, and Huasheng Zhu, started from a place of respect for the original design concept. They allowed the building to blend into nature with an extended posture, using local materials to showcase the architectural space's local sense with national colors. The large-span weaving art is presented in the space, showcasing exquisite craftsmanship and beauty.
