Harvested Pavilion: Capturing the Essence of Autumn

Creating a Transparent and Spacious Living Space

The unique feature of Harvested Pavilion lies in its ability to surround inhabitants with the atmosphere of autumn. Wu achieved this by using dark wooden grains, reminiscent of the autumn street scenes, to pave the wall facade. The public area was carefully designed to remove any redundant space and instead, a semi-permeable open study was placed on the side of the living room. This not only optimized the use of space but also enhanced the overall transparency and spaciousness of the area.

The realization of Harvested Pavilion involved the use of various materials, including Changhong glass, solid wood veneer, titanium plating, tawny glass, and SPC board. These materials were carefully selected to bring Wu's vision to life and create a harmonious and visually appealing living space.

The interior of Harvested Pavilion spans across a 35-ping area, comprising a public area, an entryway, a living room, a semi-open study, a master bedroom, a secondary bedroom, a master bathroom, and a secondary bathroom. The design seamlessly integrates these spaces, ensuring a cohesive and functional layout.

One of the main challenges faced during the design process was the need to address space distortion and excessive partitioning. To overcome this, Wu removed a room that was originally located in front of the TV wall and transformed it into an open-end study. This adjustment not only improved the use of space in the living and dining areas but also created a square and airy living space.

In the secondary bedroom, Wu opted for a light gray color scheme to create a soft and relaxing atmosphere. By utilizing a lower color tone, the designer was able to enhance the sense of space while playing with lighting angles to create different expressions of the facade. Additionally, Wu skillfully incorporated the building beams on the ceiling into the design, using angles to outline captivating layers.

Harvested Pavilion was completed in March 2021 in Taiwan. The project showcases the meticulous research and attention to detail that went into creating a space that reflects the beauty and tranquility of autumn. The design has been recognized with the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2022, highlighting its outstanding creativity and contribution to quality of life improvements.
