Chef's Beer: A Minimalistic and Elegant Label Design

Ana Mrazek Lugarov Creates a Unique Collaboration Between Chef, Winemaker, and Brewers

Inspired by the chef's traditional uniform, Ana Mrazek Lugarov designed a label that perfectly captures the essence of Chef's Beer. With its clean lines, contrasting colors, and elegant font, this label stands out in the high gastronomy market.

The inspiration for the Chef's Beer label came from the name itself and the chef's traditional uniform. The white double-breasted jacket with black buttons worn by qualified chefs provided the perfect contrast for the label. The golden line represents not only a visual part of the uniform but also excellence and sophistication. The use of white signifies cleanliness, both in the chef's uniform and on the label. The chosen font is elegant and bold, striking a balance between modern and classic.

What sets Chef's Beer apart is its collaboration between a chef, winemaker, and brewers. This beer is unique because it combines the characteristics of both beer and wine, making it a perfect fit for the high gastronomy market. To associate the beer with a wine label, a minimalist approach to design was taken, using quality materials and printing techniques that emphasize different parts of the label. The strength of the label lies in the precise connection between the name and the design.

The label for Chef's Beer is made using textured, uncoated Martele blanc paper. The printing techniques include offset printing, gold foil print, and 3D varnish. These interesting contrasts in textures and printing techniques correspond to the clean and contrasting lines of the graphic elements.

The Chef's Beer label comes in two different dimensions, 210 x 68 mm and 190 x 45 mm, to accommodate the two sizes of beer bottles, 750 ml and 375 ml.

By looking at a bottle of Chef's Beer, the minimalist visual and name create a strong association for the user. The name and details on the label reveal that it is a very special beer, despite the shape of the bottle resembling that of wine or champagne. The label design aims to create an association with the chef's uniform, further enhancing the user's experience.

The Chef's Beer label was designed in 2019 and printed in 2020. The project was completed in Croatia and Slovenia. In 2020, the beer was awarded a gold medal at the European Beer Challenge in London, further validating its excellence.

Creating the Chef's Beer label posed several challenges. The biggest challenge was to combine culinary, beer, and wine traditions and connect them with the name of the beer and the design of the label in the cleanest and simplest way possible. However, Ana Mrazek Lugarov successfully overcame these challenges, resulting in a label that perfectly represents the collaboration between the chef, winemaker, and brewers.

The Chef's Beer label is a winner of the prestigious A' Design Award, specifically the Iron A' Packaging Design Award in 2021. This award recognizes well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements. The label's integration of industry best practices and competent technical characteristics contribute to a better world.
