Revolutionizing Fashion: Tanya Dunaeva's Sustainable Design Triumph

FAB: An Exhibition of Sustainable Fashion, Wins Silver A' Design Award

In an era where the fashion industry is one of the largest contributors to environmental pollution, Tanya Dunaeva's sustainable fashion design, FAB, stands out. This innovative exhibition, which recently won the Silver A' Design Award, aims to revolutionize the fashion industry by promoting moderate consumption and sustainable practices.

The FAB exhibition, short for Fabric, showcases design trends in the field of sustainable fashion. It was born out of the need to counteract the negative effects of fast fashion, which leads to increased greenhouse gas emissions and the production of low-quality clothing. The exhibition's identity was developed with a focus on typographic style, reflecting its central message - a call to reduce consumption in the fashion sector.

The unique properties of FAB lie in its graphic solution, based on a cross-type of a pair of fonts - a strictly grotesque and an openwork accidental font, resembling the folds of fabric. This design concept was realized using collages and mock-ups in Adobe Photoshop, with typography inspired by Cinema 4D lessons. The result is a visually striking exhibition identity that speaks to fashion consumers, attracting the attention of opinion leaders and market leaders.

The exhibition's identity was designed for various media, including the design of the entrance group, posters, city street advertisements, navigation inside the exhibition space, information leaflets, the exhibition catalog, and promotional products. This wide range of applications ensures that the exhibition's message reaches a broad audience, promoting the trend of moderate consumption in the fashion industry.

The project was completed at the Russian Higher School of Economics as a student project and took about three weeks. Special thanks were given to the Russian Higher School of Economics (HSE Art and Design School) and Leonid Slavin, head of the Art direction MA Program, for their support and guidance during the project's development.

Before starting the work, a desk study was conducted to understand the essence of the problem, analyze existing solutions, and form the main content of the future exhibition. The challenge was to engage an audience that may not be ready to discuss the problems of moderate consumption. However, the design's brightness and conviction have the potential to attract interest, engage, and possibly change the future of consumption in the fashion industry.

In conclusion, Tanya Dunaeva's FAB exhibition is a testament to the power of design in driving change. By winning the Silver A' Design Award, it has proven that sustainable fashion is not just a trend, but a necessity in today's world. Through its innovative design and powerful message, FAB encourages us all to rethink our consumption habits and make more sustainable choices.
