Top of the Lake: A Harmonious Blend of Nature and Mid-Century Design

Driven by the beauty of nature, the color palette of the house predominantly features earth colors, deep greens, and deep reds, complemented by oak and stone finishes. The design is a unique fusion of modern elements, forest cabin aesthetics, and mid-century luxury vibes. The house features unique spaces such as a futuristic garage with classic elements and custom lighting, and a private tree house in a child's room.

The interior furniture is primarily built with MDF board finished in oak veneer, sourced from eco-friendly suppliers. The floors are covered in tiles and layered wood, adding to the natural aesthetic of the house. The house, spanning 238 sqm, boasts custom-designed furniture, including built-in furniture and standalone objects like tables, cupboards, and shelf systems. Custom designed lamps add a unique touch to the interior, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

Functionality is at the heart of this design. The textile zig-zag panels between the kitchen and dining area are rotating, providing the option to open or close the kitchen. The child's room is cleverly divided into three areas for study, play, and sleep, creating a versatile environment that can adapt to the changing needs of a growing child.

The project, which started in November 2018 and was completed in June 2020, was a journey of exploration and innovation for the designer. The challenge was to create a seamless and complete composition by connecting all the intersecting rooms with colors and textures. The staircase, a light and transparent hanging design, required meticulous planning and precise execution to achieve a harmonious look.

The design's success is evident in its recognition by the prestigious A' Design Award, where it was awarded Silver in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category in 2022. This award is a testament to the design's outstanding technical characteristics, artistic skill, and innovative approach, which have created a space that is not only visually stunning but also functional and comfortable.
