Lakeside Villa: A Harmonious Blend of Nature and Design

A Tranquil Living Space Designed by Yang Luobin

Inspired by the concept of ma, the Japanese term for a continuous and fluid gap within a space, Lakeside Villa seamlessly connects with its natural surroundings. Designed by Yang Luobin, this villa showcases a unique blend of functionality and aesthetics, creating a harmonious living space that embraces the beauty of nature.

This exceptional villa, consisting of one underground level and three levels above ground, features an open living room with transparent French windows that blur the boundaries between the interior and the outdoors. The design emphasizes neat lines that outline functional areas, stimulating interaction between the space and its occupants. The harmonious proportional relationships and clear visual effects create a sense of tranquility and rhythm.

One of the villa's standout features is the combination of open functional areas, such as the kitchen, dining area, and living room. The occupants can gather around the island, enjoying the outdoor scenery while engaging in conversation. This multifunctional and flexible space encourages social interaction and creates a seamless flow between different areas.

The staircase, designed as a connection node within the space, embodies the philosophy of subtraction. Its simplistic transparent form extends upwards, adding a touch of vivacity to the overall design. Ample passage space ensures comfortable circulation routes, linking different functional areas and floors.

The bedrooms in Lakeside Villa exude tranquility, thanks to a calming color palette and the use of white hues and natural wood. These private spaces are designed to reflect natural light, creating a serene atmosphere. With ample daylight and openness, the bedrooms also serve as functional spaces for study and work.

The design of Lakeside Villa was not only focused on aesthetics but also on the well-being of its occupants. The project aimed to create a pleasant living environment that adapts to the needs and habits of different individuals. By injecting time-based aesthetics into the space, the design allows occupants to experience the changing lifestyle and the relationship between the home and nature at different times.

Yang Luobin's Lakeside Villa project started in May 2018 and was completed in May 2020 in Taizhou City, Zhejiang Province, China. Throughout the design process, careful material selection was crucial to maintain the spatial ambiance. The unity of functionality and aesthetics guided the choice of materials, ensuring a harmonious and cohesive design.

Lakeside Villa has garnered recognition for its exceptional design. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2022. This prestigious accolade acknowledges the villa's outstanding creativity and resourcefulness, showcasing its contribution to improving the quality of life and making the world a better place.

With its seamless integration of nature and design, Lakeside Villa by Yang Luobin stands as a testament to the power of harmonious living spaces. By embracing the concept of ma, this villa creates a tranquil retreat that fosters a deep connection with the surrounding natural landscape.
