The inspiration for Kokomi's design comes from traditional Japanese folk houses, with walls predominantly covered in reddish-brown timber panels. However, what sets Kokomi apart is the incorporation of modern twists on traditional Japanese carpentry details, which adorn different sections of the restaurant. The backdrop wall is a captivating mix of sandblasted grey granite tiles, rough chiseled natural stone slats, and raw iron strips, all accentuated by a criss-crossed lighting effect.
One of the standout features of Kokomi is its functional layout, which centers around two core areas: the Sushi/Bar and the Teppanyaki station. The Sushi/Bar counter seamlessly integrates sushi making and drink serving, creating a vibrant and social atmosphere where customers can sit and hang out. Moving further inside, the teppanyaki grill tables dominate the inner dining section. These tables feature a bush-hammered stone block countertop, complemented by an overhead structure constructed with book-matched marble in rigato finishes.
Kokomi's design is not only visually stunning but also highly functional. The fusion of traditional and modern elements creates a unique ambiance that perfectly complements the casual, young Japanese cuisine offered by the restaurant. The attention to detail and the incorporation of innovative design elements make Kokomi a standout destination for both food and design enthusiasts.
Recognized for its excellence, Kokomi was awarded the prestigious Iron A' Design Award in 2016 in the category of Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design. This award is a testament to Kokomi's well-designed, practical, and innovative approach, meeting professional and industrial requirements. Kokomi's design not only provides fulfillment and positive feelings but also contributes to a better world through its integration of industry best practices and competent technical characteristics.
