Living Wild: A Modern Home with a Touch of Adventure

Designers Yu-Chi Liu and Chih Hao Tseng Create a Unique Residential Space Inspired by Outdoor Living

Inspired by the adventurous spirit of a young couple, designers Yu-Chi Liu and Chih Hao Tseng have created 'Living Wild', a residential house that blends modern design with elements of nature and outdoor living. This unique home, located in Zhongli, Taiwan, is a testament to the couple's love for camping and the great outdoors.

The design of 'Living Wild' is distinguished by its use of stainless steel and veneer, matched with plants and decoration to embody the concept of "rigidity contained smoothness". The designers have used pure materials to create a concise space that is both visually appealing and proportionally balanced. A hemp rope-droplight above the dining table disrupts the order of the space, adding a touch of wilderness and a hint of forest atmosphere.

The entrance of the house features retro terrazzo floor tiles, a common element in old Taiwanese houses and a symbol of cultural nostalgia. This is juxtaposed with a clean and tidy stainless steel TV wall, creating a sense of grandeur in a small space. The round, childlike transparent chair adds a touch of playful contrast.

The house's multi-purpose room is filled with green cabinets, combining storage and sleeping space. This not only makes the walls a focal point of the home's decoration, but also maximizes the use of space. The room's double sliding door design enhances indoor permeability and increases the flexibility of space use.

One of the highlights of 'Living Wild' is its glass-walled multi-function room. This design not only allows natural light to flood in, but also amplifies the spatial effect. When the aluminum blinds are pulled down, the room transforms into a private sanctuary.

'Living Wild' is not just a residential house, but a reflection of its owners' adventurous spirit and love for the outdoors. It is a testament to the designers' ability to create a space that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing, and a worthy recipient of the Silver A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2018.
