Matra: Revolutionizing the Electric Bike Industry

Asbjoerk Stanly Mogensen's Award-Winning Design Transforms Mountain Biking

Asbjoerk Stanly Mogensen's Matra electric mountain bike, a Silver A' Design Award winner, is a game-changer in the biking industry. This innovative design, inspired by the post-war French industrial renewal movement, combines high technology with a sleek, fully integrated design.

The Matra brand, established in 1947, has always been synonymous with innovation and high technology. These values, which have been integral to the brand's success in the automotive industry, have found a new expression in the form of Proximity Electric Transport Solutions ™, 100% electric modes of transport introduced in 2004.

Matra's electric mountain bike, part of the I-FORCE range, is designed to transform even the steepest terrain into a playground. The bike uses Bosch eBike Systems technology to provide electric assistance, optimizing the rider's experience. The high-performance accessorization perfectly complements the rigid or suspended frames, providing great sensations and maximum pleasure.

The bike's unique properties lie in its fully integrated design. The full carbon frame, carbon motor bracket, handlebar, and cockpit are all fully integrated, making it one of the world's lightest fully integrated electric bikes with a high torque mid-motor. The monocoque frame is made using autoclave technology.

Despite its lightweight design, the bike does not compromise on technical specifications. Weighing just 17.8 kg and measuring 145 cm in length, 95 cm in height, and 50 cm in width, the bike is probably the lightest electric bicycle in the market. It also features a fully integrated motor, battery, and control cockpit in the frame, along with a USB connector for external devices. The bike can be operated via a personal app for iPhone.

The development of the Matra electric mountain bike took 12 months, with work carried out in the Pininfarina design office in Italy and the Diavelo development office in France. The design was based on insights from end consumers, who were looking for a holistically designed electric bike. The biggest challenge was getting the Kinematics right for MTB purposes, which required many parts to be made from scratch, including the battery and the display.

The Matra electric mountain bike is a testament to Asbjoerk Stanly Mogensen's innovative design approach and commitment to creating a holistic biking experience. The bike's award-winning design and high-performance features are set to revolutionize the electric bike industry.
