Yunyun Chen's Award-Winning Lounge Chair Evokes the Past while Embracing the Future

Yunyun Chen's design was sparked by a traditional chair from her grandmother's house. This widely spread design was reimagined with a modern twist, resulting in a lounge chair that evokes growth and memory. The different colors of the chair represent different growth memories, opening up a treasure trove of good memories for the user.

The Memory Growth chair stands out for its simple lines and comfortable soft bags, making it a perfect fit for the modern home environment. Its modern style and fashionable color matching add a touch of taste to home life. Moreover, it's versatile and easy to install, suitable for use in multiple scenes.

The chair's main frame is made of round pipe bending and welding, with careful consideration given to the beauty and strength of the welded part. The cushion and backrest are combined with styling cotton and wood board, ensuring the aesthetics of the shape while providing comfort. The chair measures 900 mm in width, 780 mm in depth, and 850 mm in height.

When one is tired, the Memory Growth chair offers a welcoming embrace. Its cushion and backrest are both elastic and supportive, and the slanted profile provides a comforting hug. When friends gather, the chair quietly carries the friendship, sharing in the happy times.

The project, which started in Zhengzhou in March 2021 and finished in August 2021, was inspired by traditional Chinese old-fashioned back chairs. The aim was to provide a warm care reminiscent of the 1980s, conveying good memories and adding a touch of innocent happiness to modern homes. The biggest challenge was studying the structure and craftsmanship of the chair production process, achieving the perfect combination of comfort and robustness, and awakening the memories of people from the 1980s.

The Memory Growth chair was awarded Silver in the A' Furniture Design Award in 2022. This prestigious award is given to top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs that illustrate outstanding expertise and innovation. These designs, admired for their strong technical characteristics and splendid artistic skill, showcase a remarkable level of excellence and introduce positive feelings, amazement, and wonder.
