Mango: A Vibrant Demonstration Office by Martin Chow

Inspired by the Energetic Spirit of Youth and the Pantone Colours of 2021

Martin Chow, a renowned designer, has crafted an innovative demonstration office, christened "Mango". The design, which is a unique blend of creativity and functionality, draws inspiration from the vibrant colours and shapes of a mango, reflecting the youthful and dynamic potential clients of the unit. This project, which was awarded Silver in A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2022, is a testament to Chow's remarkable expertise and innovation.

The Mango project stands apart due to its unique properties. The design theme was proposed as a Mango advertising company, mirroring the energetic and youthful potential clients of the unit. The colour scheme cleverly incorporates the Pantone colours of 2021 - yellow (13-0647) and grey (17-5104) - to align with the latest market trends. The creative curve shapes and forms not only highlight the theme but also break the monotony of the rectangular space.

The design realization technology involved the use of various materials such as carpet, tiles, wallpapers, metals, and glasses. Despite the limited space, budget, and construction time, the design team managed to incorporate creative curve lines and forms within the small box. The accent "Mango" colour belt, extending from the stair to the mezzanine floor, is a testament to the team's creativity and problem-solving skills.

The Mango project, which started in February 2021 in Xian, China, was completed in July 2021. The design team, including Martin Chow, Pan Mok, and Kimi Guan, spent considerable time with the client's marketing team to finalize the young and trendy theme. The design not only applied the mango yellow colour but also incorporated creative curve shapes, forms, and even furniture in the space.

One of the key challenges faced by the design team was ensuring a smooth traffic flow, given that it was a demonstration unit. The layout was designed in such a way that customers could easily move from the entrance to the bar pantry, office area, director area, and meeting room. The design also had to accommodate a small bar pantry where people could rest and chat.

In conclusion, the Mango project is a shining example of Martin Chow's innovative and creative prowess. Despite the challenges, the design team managed to create a vibrant and dynamic space that perfectly embodies the spirit of the Mango advertising company. The project, which has been awarded the prestigious Silver A' Design Award, is a testament to the team's commitment to excellence and innovation.
