The initial concept for Flügel Haus was to create a structure composed of two distinct elements - a social space (common area) and a private zone. The common area, situated along the road, is an open, glass structure that offers breathtaking views while maintaining privacy. The private zone, located at the back of the plot, is a separate block with strategically placed windows that maximize natural light and provide a sense of openness.
The social space, covered by a roof resembling the wings of a bird in take-off, evokes a feeling of open space and a strong connection with the surrounding landscape. This unique architectural feature not only adds visual interest but also enhances the overall form of the building. The private zone, on the other hand, focuses on functionality and privacy, with each bedroom having its own en-suite bathroom.
Flügel Haus was realized using a combination of reinforced concrete for the structural construction and styrofoam for insulation. The dimensions of the building are 15.2m (depth) x 17.2m (width) x 8.4m (height), providing ample space for comfortable living.
