Chenhow Marble: A Showroom of Unique Stone Expressions

Combining Luxury and Art in Interior Design

Chenhow Marble, designed by Hui Hsin Cheng, is a showroom that showcases the beauty and uniqueness of marble. Each piece of stone in the showroom represents a different background story, symbolizing the various colorful and rich materials that can be formed through the compression and transformation of rock formations. The designer has arranged a variety of stones in every corner of the space, allowing customers to discover their own unique stones as they explore the showroom.

What sets Chenhow Marble apart is its focus on combining luxury stone with art. The designer has used a wide range of stones with rich colors to create an artistic display in the stone exhibition hall. Drawing inspiration from traditional oriental culture, the office space features a ceiling adorned with streamline-shaped lights, resembling the flow of ocean currents. This not only symbolizes the flow of wealth but also represents the flow of money driven by the stone itself.

The realization of the design is achieved through the use of marble as the main material of the space, highlighting the natural colors and patterns of the stone. Spotlights are strategically placed to create a quiet and gorgeous atmosphere, reminiscent of a museum. The office space is framed with curved golden iron pieces, while the ceiling features a curved streamlined light strip, resembling a luminous treasure chest in the ocean current.

Spanning 1280 square meters on the first floor, Chenhow Marble's showroom in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, is a testament to the designer's vision and creativity. The project, which began in March 2020 and was completed in July 2020, aims to establish a connection with the coastal city of Kaohsiung. The designer has integrated the special emotions and subsidiary meanings that oriental people associate with marble into the space design.

One of the challenges faced by the designer was introducing the concept of luxury marble to the pragmatic Kaohsiung people. Unlike the traditional stone exhibition centers concentrated in Taipei, Chenhow Marble's Kaohsiung branch adopts an arc shape, reminiscent of a large ship drifting in the ocean currents and entering the port. This design, closer to the local characteristics of Kaohsiung, aims to create a marble collection hall that resonates with the people of the city.

Chenhow Marble has received recognition for its exceptional design. The showroom was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2022. This award recognizes designs that demonstrate creativity, resourcefulness, and technical skill, contributing to improvements in quality of life and making the world a better place.
