Colourform: A Fusion of Nature and Innovation

Smart Design Expo's Award-Winning Exhibition Design Inspired by Dolomite

Smart Design Expo - Marzena Michalska presents Colourform, an exhibition design that blends the power of nature with modern technology. This design, which won the Silver A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2022, showcases the transformative power of Mineral Composite technology.

Colourform's inspiration stems from the minimalist architecture, sculpture, and monolithic structures. The design plays with geometric forms and colors, creating different zones within the stand. The stand's concept is a tribute to the Mineral Composite technology, a combination of dolomite and flexible resin, used in the products exhibited.

The Dolomites, formed about 250 million years ago due to volcanic activity, underwent transformation under pressure and high temperature, turning limestone layers into dolomite. This fascinating natural process is mirrored in the stand's design, where huge rocks and dolomite deposits are represented as tall lumps, symbolizing the power of nature.

Colourform is not just about aesthetics; it is also about functionality. The products are presented in groups or collections, making it easier for visitors to understand the offerings. The common area, including the bar counter and facilities, is strategically located to ensure easy access without distracting visitors' attention from the products.

The design team, consisting of Marzena Michalska, Lukasz Jerzmanowski, and Agnieszka Skora, faced the challenge of binding and distinguishing two brands - Marmite and Acquabella. They belong to the same capital group, The Engineered Stone Group, but have distinct identities. The team successfully managed to present the two brands together while preserving their unique images.

Colourform was showcased at the KBIS 2022 in Orlando, USA. The stand, measuring 50000 mm x 50000 mm x 5500 mm, was a testament to the latest trends in geometric forms. It was a journey into a dreamlike, futuristic world, allowing visitors to focus on the products presented.

In conclusion, Colourform is a stellar example of how design can bridge the gap between nature and technology. It is a testament to the power of innovative design and the transformative potential of materials like dolomite. The Silver A' Design Award is a well-deserved recognition for this unique and functional design.
