The inspiration for the Archadia logo came from the letter 'A', which not only represents the name of the school but also embodies its mission. The words Architecture, Academy, Abitare (Living), and Archos, the architecture studio managing the school's courses, all contributed to the formation of this unique design. The logo, while static, conveys a sense of dynamism, reflecting the school's commitment to sustainability and its role as an active laboratory for architectural innovation.
The Archadia logo is more than just a stylized 'A'. It is a combination of two solid volumes, representing both the initial letter of the brand name and the various aspects of the school's mission. The design is based on the elementary geometry of a triangle, a form synonymous with stability in architecture. The blue color not only signifies the school's institutional role but also mirrors the hues of the Venice lagoon, the academy's headquarters.
Created using Adobe Illustrator CC 2021 and Adobe Photoshop CC 2021, the logo's design started from an equilateral triangle and was inscribed in an isosceles triangle. The blue color was chosen to recall the water and reflections of the Venice lagoon. The logo's versatility allows it to be used in various ways, shapes, and versions, catering to different brand identity needs. It can be used on light or dark backgrounds, as a symbol, word-mark, or a combination of both.
The design process, which took place from February to March 2022 in Bergamo, was not without its challenges. The most difficult part was avoiding banality or overly simplified forms, and the risk of plagiarizing a commonly used form like the letter 'A'. After careful research on existing forms and brand identities, Carrara proceeded with the design, personalizing it to the brand's needs in a contemporary and captivating look.
In conclusion, the Archadia logo is a testament to the power of design in conveying a brand's mission and identity. It showcases the strength and dynamism of the Archadia Academy, making it immediately recognizable both as an academic symbol and as an identity of a new way of approaching architectural design. The logo, which won the Silver A' Design Award, is a reflection of Carrara's outstanding expertise and innovation in design.
