Design Name: OPEN-jingdezhen Image

Jingdezhen, a city with over a thousand years of ceramic culture, has inspired designer Chao Yang to create the OPEN-jingdezhen Image poster. In an international market that has become conservative, Yang's design aims to break through the traditional boundaries and bring innovation to the ceramic culture.

With knife cuts on linen, the poster exposes the traditional representatives of Jingdezhen ceramic. The handmade design reflects the cultural heritage of Jingdezhen, which is known for its handcrafted ceramics. It symbolizes the need for cultural breakthroughs and innovations.

The poster, measuring 700mm x 1000mm, is created using handmade techniques, including brushwork, knife cutting, photography, and Photoshop. It was completed in January 2014 in Korea to attend the 2014 Korea International Poster Exhibition.

Designing the OPEN-jingdezhen Image poster presented several challenges. The unique process required numerous experiments and overcoming technical difficulties. Through perseverance and trial and error, Yang successfully completed the design.

This poster not only reflects the traditional ceramics culture of Jingdezhen but also emphasizes the importance of cultural heritage. Jingdezhen's ceramic history spans a millennium, and it is renowned worldwide for its handcrafted ceramics. However, in today's globalized market economy, Jingdezhen ceramics need to embrace openness and reach out to the world. The poster design serves as a reminder of this need for cultural openness.

The OPEN-jingdezhen Image design received the Bronze A' Design Award in 2014 in the Graphics, Illustration, and Visual Communication Design category. This prestigious award recognizes designs that demonstrate creativity, resourcefulness, and a commitment to improving quality of life through art, science, design, and technology.
