Finding Your Focus: A Typographical Triumph

Min Huei Lu's Award-Winning Visual Communication Design

The inspiration for "Finding Your Focus" came from the constant shifts in design, society, and culture. Lu recognized the need for designers to be versatile and competent in various fields, including web, print, mobile, type design, and UX. This led to the creation of a visual concept that demonstrates a conceptual and typographical system.

What sets "Finding Your Focus" apart is its use of illustration, color, typography, layout, and a variety of circular design elements to convey the idea of focus. This design was realized using Adobe Illustrator and Adobe InDesign, demonstrating Lu's proficiency in these tools.

The design includes various deliverables such as a promotional campaign, website, design app, publication, and a conference for TYPO design. The project, which started in March 2017 and finished in April 2017, was carried out in San Francisco.

Lu faced several challenges during the design process. The most significant was establishing a clear typographic hierarchy, a crucial component of graphic design. This hierarchy determines the order in which the audience receives information from the design. Despite these challenges, Lu successfully created a design that showcases a specific vocabulary, accurate measurements, and central specifications.

Winning the Silver A' Design Award in 2021, "Finding Your Focus" has been recognized for its strong technical characteristics and splendid artistic skill. This award is given to top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs that illustrate outstanding expertise and innovation. It is a testament to Lu's skill and the effectiveness of "Finding Your Focus" as a visual communication design.
