Krivina: A Unique Side Table Design

A Clever and Minimalistic Addition to Any Bedroom

The inspiration for the Krivina side table came from the name of the place where the designer lives, which translates to "curvature." Designed initially for their own home, these tables were created to serve as an additional storage unit for the main bedroom.

What sets the Krivina side table apart is its special shelf, which is incredibly handy for keeping books or electronic devices hidden. This feature allows for a clean and clutter-free worktop, perfect for maintaining a minimalistic design in the bedroom.

The construction of the Krivina side table is simple yet sturdy. All boards are made of 18mm thick birch plywood, painted, and lacquered. The joints are dowelled, ensuring durability and stability.

The Krivina side table comes in two sizes: a low unit with dimensions of 418mm (width) x 386mm (depth) x 418mm (height), and a tall unit with dimensions of 418mm (width) x 386mm (depth) x 618mm (height). This versatility allows for customization based on individual needs and preferences.

These side tables can be used not only in the bedroom but also as additional storage units in the living room. The slanting shelf provides a convenient space to keep your favorite books or electronic devices, with the option to hide charging cables for a clean and organized look.

The Krivina side table project started in November 2020 in Svaty Anton, Slovakia, and was completed in February 2022. Throughout the design process, the main challenge was to create a strong construction while keeping the slanting shelf visible. Several mock-ups were made, exploring different joinery details, but ultimately, simplicity prevailed.

With its simple yet unusual design, the Krivina side table adds a touch of uniqueness to any bedroom. The partially hidden shelf allows for discreet storage of personal belongings, while the clear worktop emphasizes the minimalistic aesthetic. Available in various colors, these side tables are a versatile addition to modern bedrooms and living rooms.

The Krivina side table design was recognized with an Iron A' Design Award in 2022. This prestigious award is given to well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements. The Krivina side table stood out for its integration of industry best practices, competent technical characteristics, and contribution to a better world.
