Booxpace: Revolutionizing Hybrid Work with a Smart Office Reservation App

Creating a Seamless and Flexible Work Experience

Booxpace is an innovative office reservation application designed specifically for companies that have adopted a hybrid work model. This mobile application allows employees to create reservations with various details such as parking and dining options. By considering the capacity during the desired time period, employees can choose the most suitable reservation, keep track of the current capacity status, and even see their colleagues who have made the same reservation.

What sets Booxpace apart is its user-friendly interface and seamless functionality. The app welcomes users with a friendly voice, helping them overcome the loneliness caused by the pandemic. It showcases a 3D model and capacity of the office, allowing users to familiarize themselves with the workspace and fostering a sense of belonging to their company.

Employees can easily create reservations for themselves or multiple attendees. If there are attendees in the reservation, invitations will be sent to them automatically. The app also provides real-time updates on the capacity status of the reservation, ensuring that employees can plan their workday accordingly. Additionally, employees have the flexibility to edit or cancel their reservations if needed.

Booxpace was developed using a user-centered design approach, incorporating methodologies such as design thinking, interviews with target users, and market research. The design team, led by Ezgi Gok and guided by Creative Director Ismail Malcok, aimed to address the challenges faced by employees and companies in the post-pandemic work environment.

During the design process, the team conducted extensive user research, including interviews with human resources departments and employees. They utilized empathy and customer journey maps, as well as a value proposition canvas, to understand the needs and pain points of both employees and companies. Prototypes were tested with users at each stage to ensure that the final product effectively addressed their needs.

One of the main challenges faced during the development of Booxpace was the voluntary nature of the project team. Despite this challenge, the team members took initiative and collaborated to create a solution that would enhance the hybrid work experience. The app also addresses the need for socialization while considering health concerns and the desire to stay connected with pets.

Booxpace is currently available for iOS and Android systems, providing a seamless experience for employees regardless of their device preference. The project is an ongoing endeavor, with the minimum viable product (MVP) completed in January 2022. The team continues to refine and enhance the app based on user feedback and evolving work dynamics.

Recognizing its excellence and innovation, Booxpace has been awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Mobile Technologies, Applications, and Software Design category. This prestigious accolade is bestowed upon designs that demonstrate outstanding creativity, resourcefulness, and technical skills. Booxpace stands out for its contribution to improving the quality of life and making the world a better place through its seamless integration of art, science, design, and technology.
