Idyll Time: A Villa-Like Home for a Semi-Retired Couple

Blending Minimalist Styles and Harmonious Colors

Taking inspiration from the Chinese saying "Snatch a relief from life’s drudgery," designer Chen-Hung Ho has created Idyll Time, a perfect villa-like home for a semi-retired couple. This residential design connects spaces between life, emotions, and memories, offering a serene and harmonious living environment.

Idyll Time stands out with its unique blend of minimalist styles and the use of white as the main color. The white space serves as a canvas, allowing the artwork on the wall to become the visual focal point. To add a touch of color and enhance the overall harmony, green accents are applied to the cabinets, creating a subtle contrast against the pure white backdrop. The result is a space that exudes elegance and tranquility.

One of the standout features of Idyll Time is the planted wall, which injects a touch of warmth and transforms the home into an urban oasis. This unique addition adds a natural element to the space, creating a poetic and serene atmosphere.

The realization of Idyll Time involved the use of innovative materials and technologies. Wood-like marble, paint system cabinets, and diatom mud wall paint were utilized to achieve both aesthetic and functional goals. The wood-like marble brings warmth and elegance to the living room, while the paint system cabinets offer ample storage and also serve as a mini coffee bar in the dining room. The diatom mud wall paint not only adds texture and character to the space but also provides antibacterial and humidity regulation properties.

Idyll Time spans a total area of 28.9 square meters and includes a living room with an open dining area, a kitchen, a master bedroom, a dressing room, and a bathroom. The design of each space was carefully planned to maximize functionality and create a seamless flow. The large wood-like marble TV wall in the living room adds a touch of warmth and elegance, while the gray color block hints at the transformation field. The dining room features a sideboard that enhances storage and doubles as a mini coffee bar, perfect for family gatherings. The kitchen, with its milk tan color scheme, creates a warm and intimate atmosphere, and the font design adds a touch of smoothness to the space.

Designing a space with multiple colors without overwhelming the senses was a challenge that the designers successfully overcame. Through careful color selection and comparison, they were able to create a unique spatial style that is both visually appealing and harmonious. Additionally, selecting the right building materials that complemented the space was another challenge that required repeated selection and proofing.

Idyll Time is a testament to the concept of "Snatch a relief from life’s drudgery." It offers a cozy and elegant living environment for a semi-retired couple, allowing them to enjoy a villa-like home that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing. The design prioritizes simplicity and freshness, with a focus on creating a harmonious and serene atmosphere. With its thoughtful layout and attention to detail, Idyll Time is a true sanctuary for its owners.
