Tgl: A Brand Identity Design for a Research and Education Platform

Creating a Memorable and Interactive Brand Image

Tgl is a research and education platform for children that aims to provide novel and interesting teaching methods. The brand identity design, created by Wei Sun, combines simplicity, creativity, and interactivity to establish a strong brand image that resonates with its target audience.

Tgl's logo design is a unique combination of the first letter "T" and a hummingbird graphic. This fusion strengthens the recognition of the symbol and enhances brand association. The hummingbird, chosen as the brand's memory carrier, represents the brand's spirit of curiosity and exploration. The open wings of the brand IP symbolize Tgl's commitment to leading children towards a brighter future. The brand's vibrant color palette conveys a lively, youthful, and friendly tone.

What sets Tgl apart is its brand IP, which takes the hummingbird as a figurative image memory and brings it to life as a three-dimensional character. This brand-new character interacts with children in different scenes, establishing an emotional connection and enhancing the brand's appeal. The brand IP can be customized offline as a character doll, providing a tangible representation of the brand.

The logo's simple shape allows for versatile application across different media, while the brand IP can be realized through online and offline mediums. Online, it can take the form of a plane or 3D model, while offline, metallic paint color and resin materials bring it to life. The technical specifications ensure that the logo is easily adaptable for various materials and production processes.

Tgl's brand identity design not only saves communication costs but also creates a visual symbol that is exclusive to the brand. The brand IP, with its creative extensions across different fields, enhances interaction with users and conveys the brand's humanistic care. This strengthens the brand's core competitiveness and fosters a stronger connection with its target audience.

The Tgl brand identity design project was initiated in April 2021 and completed in December 2021 in Shenzhen. Throughout the project, the design team faced the challenge of incorporating the hummingbird shape into the logo while achieving creative expression. After extensive research and experimentation, the team successfully combined the hummingbird shape with the first letter "T," resulting in a unique, simple, and captivating logo that perfectly represents the brand.

Tgl's brand identity design, created by Wei Sun, has been recognized for its outstanding creativity and ingenuity. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Graphics, Illustration, and Visual Communication Design category in 2023. This prestigious award acknowledges designs that demonstrate resourcefulness, incorporate best practices in art, science, design, and technology, and contribute to improving the quality of life.
