The Link: A Symbolic Connection Through Jewelry

Integrating the Moon's Symbolism into a Fashion Ring

The Link is a fashion ring accompanied by a pair of earrings and a pendant. The concept behind this collection is to explore the idea of a "link" and its primary meaning of connecting, while incorporating the symbolism of the Moon. The head shape and shank of the ring are composed of differently sized and positioned Moon-shaped links, forming an open shank. This design choice represents the different phases of the Moon and emphasizes the connection between individuals.

Using advanced technology, the ring, earrings, and pendant were first hand sketched and then modeled in the Gemvision Matrix software. The 3D models were then printed and cast in a 925 Sterling Silver alloy or a 14k white gold alloy. The final pieces are finished with a high gloss polish, adding a touch of elegance to the design.

Technical specifications for the ring include an inner radius of 17.8 mm, a head width of 17.1 mm, and a shank that varies from 2.9 mm to 8.3 mm. The estimated weight of the ring is 5.27 g in 925 Sterling Silver. The earrings are 25.3 mm long and 14.7 mm wide, with an estimated weight of 2.8 g per pair in 925 Sterling Silver. The pendant measures 28.9 mm long and 28.9 mm wide, with an estimated weight of 1.9 g.

The Link collection is designed to be practical and versatile. The open shank of the ring allows for size adjustments, making it suitable for everyday wear and special occasions. The simplicity and anatomical design of the jewelry make it comfortable to wear for extended periods.

The idea for The Link project emerged during the COVID-19 pandemic when physical distance became a challenge for many. The designer aimed to create a piece of jewelry that would help people feel connected to their loved ones, even when they are far away. The entire design process took place in Nis, Serbia, with careful planning and 3D modeling completed in November 2021.

The Moon's symbolism, combined with the concept of a link, creates a design that goes beyond aesthetics. It serves as a reminder of the bond between individuals and the shared experiences they hold dear.

The Link has been recognized for its innovative design and creativity. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Jewelry, Eyewear, and Watch Design category in 2023. This prestigious award acknowledges designs that demonstrate technical and creative excellence, contributing to improvements in quality of life.
