Binhai Second Sub: Optometry Center

Uniquely Combining Science, Art, and Commerce

With the practice of science and technology and art coming into life, many high-tech, art, handicrafts, and other elements have entered the commercial space, which makes it beauty in both functional and formal.

The Binhai Second Sub Optometry Center, designed by Ke Luo, stands out with its simple yet diversified design methods that explore the space. Located in the Binhai New Area of Tianjin, this center takes professional medical technology and attentive customer service as its core, optimizing its functions to reflect simplicity and comfort.

The integration of medicine, art, and commerce is at the heart of this project. It retains the main design elements of the Tianjin Eye Hospital while expressing its own unique style. The result is a space that combines functionality and aesthetics seamlessly.

The Optometry Center features a range of design elements, including green plants, trees, wooden columns, a silver electroplating chandelier, wood and metal ceilings, nanometer electrified glass, and customized leather sofas. These carefully chosen materials and furnishings contribute to the overall ambiance and create a warm and inviting atmosphere.

Spanning an area of 373 square meters, this project required meticulous attention to detail. The design team communicated with the client multiple times, constantly revising the design until it was finalized. The process also involved floor transformation, coordination with the fire department, product production, on-site decoration, and the selection of soft furnishings.

The design of the Optometry Center faced several challenges, including limitations imposed by the surrounding environment and city appearance factors. The facade underwent multiple changes to ensure it harmonized with its surroundings. Additionally, the stair structure, ceiling lintel, and columns posed challenges to achieving overall unity in floor height and the main visual space. However, the design team overcame these obstacles by focusing on space beautification and selecting high-quality materials to create a high-end lens sales model.

The facade of the Optometry Center features a simple shape with dynamic color changes, catching the attention of passersby. Inside, the concise arc element integrates with the internal space layout, creating a visually rich and spatially engaging experience. The layout of the store maximizes the utility of the limited space, ensuring every area serves its purpose effectively.

The second floor of the center serves as the inspection center, designed with a spanning layout that expands the sense of space. It offers a comfortable, quiet, and transparent environment, conveying professionalism and care to customers in the purest way.

The Binhai Second Sub Optometry Center, designed by Ke Luo, is a testament to the successful integration of science, art, and commerce. Its unique design and attention to detail have earned it the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2023. This award recognizes designs that exhibit creativity, resourcefulness, and a commitment to improving quality of life through art, science, design, and technology.
