The design of the Guang Xi Culture Modern Museum draws inspiration from the architecture of columns in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, which is known for its unique construction method. By incorporating materials such as bamboo, jin silks, and patterned fabrics, the space seamlessly integrates traditional elements with modern design techniques, creating a harmonious blend of space and memory.
One of the standout features of this design is the use of Zhuang brocade, a characteristic folk element in the local traditional culture. Throughout the entire space, the spirit and emotional value of the customer are delivered, allowing them to not only enjoy their meal but also immerse themselves in the interesting culture of Guangxi. This unique approach sets the Guang Xi Culture Modern Museum apart from other restaurants.
In terms of realization technology, the interior decorations feature a remix of fabric with Zhuang characteristics, further enhancing the cultural experience for visitors. The decorative materials used include bamboo panels, volcanic slate, and stainless steel waves, adding to the overall aesthetic appeal of the space.
The Guang Xi Culture Modern Museum took five months to complete, from design to project realization. Situated inside the IKEA mall in Nanning, this restaurant serves as a testament to the rich cultural heritage of Guangxi and provides a platform for visitors to learn, see, and feel the essence of this fascinating culture.
The design of the Guang Xi Culture Modern Museum was driven by extensive research on the architectural structures and construction methods of Guangxi Zhuang architecture. By extracting the shape of the roof structure as the entrance and incorporating elements such as the Guangxi Bamboo Raft and sky patterns as luminous lamps, the design pays homage to the region's cultural heritage while also embracing sustainability.
One of the challenges faced during the design process was creating a space that would make customers feel as if they were on a bamboo raft on a lake, evoking the image of cormorant fishing. The use of rustic and rough paint on the walls, combined with sleek and straight lines, achieves a contemporary aesthetic while maintaining a connection to history and the natural environment.
The Guang Xi Culture Modern Museum has been recognized for its outstanding design, receiving the Bronze A' Design Award in 2023 in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category. This prestigious award acknowledges the creativity and ingenuity of the design, which authentically captures the essence of the Guangxi Zhuang culture and contributes to enhancing the quality of life for visitors.
