Surf Wong's Aerodynamic Masterpiece: The AMP Extreme Airo

Award-Winning Graphics Card Inspired by Aurora Borealis and Aerodynamics

The ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 40 Series AMP Extreme AIRO, designed by Surf Wong, is a perfect blend of function and form. Drawing inspiration from aerodynamic concepts, the design maximizes airflow efficiency with ventilation paths on all sides, reducing trapped heat and ensuring optimum performance. The iridescent and translucent finish of the RGB presence, inspired by the mesmerizing colors of the Aurora Borealis, adds a captivating visual appeal to the design.

The AMP Extreme Airo stands out for its unique AIR-Optimized design, which brings upward efficiencies in airflow, noise levels, and durability. Powered by the NVIDIA Ada Lovelace architecture, this graphics card is designed to bring out the best in gaming GPU performance. The design provides users with the flexibility to mount their PC build in either a vertical or horizontal orientation, allowing for a stunning visual presentation.

The realization of the design involved various technologies. The LED Panel features an iridescent-decorated plastic frame, fabricated using in-mold decoration technology with integrated ARGB LED lighting. The cover is injection molded using transparent plastic, with a metallic gun-metal and silver spray paint coating. The heat pipes are precision-machined, and the vapor chamber is constructed with a nickel-plated copper plate. The backplate is solid die-cast metal, and the fans are dual ball bearing.

The design process began in September 2021 in Hong Kong, with manufacturing starting in June 2022 in China. The biggest challenge was the utilization of a completely new molding technique. After several months and testing dozens of samples, the team successfully achieved the desired outcome. The product was designed with minimal need for user interaction, with efficient heat pipes, fans, exhaust, and aerodynamic shape offering maximum airflow expulsion and heat transfer.

The AMP Extreme Airo was awarded the Golden A' Design Award in 2023, a testament to its outstanding design and trendsetting creation. The award is granted to products that reflect the designer's prodigy and wisdom, advancing art, science, design, and technology, and significantly impacting the world with their desirable characteristics.
