A Symbolic Door to the Universe

The inspiration for Evolution stems from the concept of entropy and the process of inverse entropy that occurs in the evolution of everything in the universe. Lai Jiebin sees this evolution as a large computing and manufacturing system, an information technology system that revolves around a central line of information. This sculpture serves as a metaphorical door to this system, offering insights and answers related to life and the universe.

What sets Evolution apart is its peaceful design language, combining the simplicity of straight lines with the unique softness and movement of curves. This juxtaposition represents the dynamic and continuous nature of thinking, transcending boundaries of space and time. The sculpture features an intentional void in the middle, resembling a door that invites viewers to explore the mysteries of the universe. Constructed using steel forging, Evolution stands at an impressive length of 15 meters, a width of 4 meters, and a height of 7.8 meters. The sheer volume of the sculpture posed a challenge during its creation, requiring meticulous attention to detail in the connection of the steel components.
